Earth Month: 5 Tips & Facts on Preserving Water

April is Earth Month, so help contribute by learning some key water facts and how you can better preserve the water we have. 🙂

Fact: Less than .007% of the water on Earth is available for drinking

Fact: Population growth is the primary reason for water shortage.

Fact: Toilets use 22% of the water usage in homes, averaging 6.5 gallons per day!


Tip: Turn water off while brushing your teeth

Tip: Try limiting your shower to 5 minutes. Average use is 2 gallons per minute.

Tip: Make sure your dishwasher and washing machine are completely full before running them.


Fact & Tip: Make a meatless meal. It takes up to 5,000 gallons of water to produce one pound of meat.

Fact & Tip: It takes 2 gallons of fresh water to generate each kilowatt-hour of traditional electricity. So be sure to turn off your electronics when they are not in use.
